BMW Ghost Immobiliser
The Ghost uses CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or putting in an additional lock to circumvent the security system.
The Ghost is unique to other immobilisers in that it does not use key fobs or LED indicators. It makes use of the buttons on your vehicle to allow you to enter a unique disarming sequence that you can only remember.
Stop & Start
If you have ever driven a new BMW or used the stop start feature, then you might have noticed that when you stop the engine the engine will still continue to run for around 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system continuing to monitor your vehicle for a signal from the ignition key, and if it is detected, it will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car every time you press a button.
Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a new generation device, does not require you to cut OEM wires or add key fobs or alarms from the aftermarket. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with an unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This allows you to enter the key sequences which aren’t accessible through the standard media menus. For instance, volume up/down or source, air conditioning, cruise control etc. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to figure out.
In addition to this we can also add a service / valet mode to the system. This is activated when the car is in for servicing to ensure that the Ghost is hidden from the garage. You can activate this mode by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment unit (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically rearm when you return.

Service / Valet Mode
The Ghost is the most popular immobiliser on the market. It stops your vehicle from being taken through key cloning or hacking. Once the service / valet mode is activated it will stop your BMW from being able to be driven after it has been started. This prevents anyone from test driving while you are away. Once you return it will return to normal, preventing your vehicle from being tampered with or stolen again.
The Ghost can be installed on any BMW. All you need is the correct keys, since the device doesn’t use the original remotes, but can be used in conjunction with them. If you do not want to use a mobile device or don’t feel comfortable using it, we can supply an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to disable the Ghost. This is an extra cost and requires a separate Bluetooth pairing.
Anti-Hijack
With hi-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated, the security technology has to improve, which is why Ghost has created this discrete and unobtrusive immobiliser. It’s designed to stop thieves from acquiring a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your car and then drive it away. Ghost is connected to your CAN network and utilizes buttons on your vehicle to generate an unique push-sequence which must be entered before your engine can start.
This will activate the anti-hijack mode and, once it is activated any attempt to start the engine will be immediately stopped. The system will hone the horn and flash the indicators. It will also stall the vehicle in the event that the code cannot be found. By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to start temporarily without having to enter a PIN.
If you own an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it is possible to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack feature, allowing you to still use the navigation system in your car even when the vehicle is parked unsupervised. You can also use your mobile phone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

The system allows you to turn the car on, select drive and leave service mode without having keys. You can also track your vehicle on an interactive map on your smartphone.
The ghost 2 immobiliser problems can be placed under the dashboard or in the centre console, it is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle’s CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is inserted into it. This pin code must be chosen prior to the vehicle’s start. This prevents thieves from bypassing the system using an unauthorized clone or replacement ECU.
If the vehicle is stolen and the Ghost will enter a service mode and shut down all functions until the PIN code is entered or you can utilize the mobile app to dearm it. This feature was created to protect your vehicle from thieves with high-tech equipment who employ relay boxes to take it. Ghost can also prevent “Relay-style Frequency Amplification”. This is the most frequent method of preventing a vehicle from being stolen with a key-fob that has been copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost lets you stop this theft by installing a device known as Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device is installed in the key-fob of your vehicle and shuts off its battery after a couple of inactive minutes. This can be done with the majority of modern PKE keys.
